Help.. for reading MY Journal report.
This NGSQ ( National Genealogical Society Quarterly)
format was generated by TMG software. I requested TMG to make
myself generation 1 (this is the small superscript seen with each
familyl). So, generation is with respect to myself. The
blue highlights assist linking within the page. It's all in ONE page.
In the NGSQ view, note that the numbering scheme for familys is
2,4,8,16,... for male parents; and (+1): 3,5,9,17 for the matriarchs.
This scheme helps you trace relations. For each person with id x,
then 2x is his father and 2x+1 is his mother.
What's the differance be using this and my phpGedView?
- It is quicker; all being in one Web page.
- It is more up to date than the pp; which is only upadated about 1/quarter.
- It is NOT password protected
- With exception of my immediate family, no people are still living.
- Nothing beyond BMD (Birth, Marraige, Death) is included.
- Kids (and especially older people) should find this easier to use.
- It is readily available with key information for somebody I may ask for help.
- Anyone may link right into the page using the general constant form http://www.murph.us/tom2/trmgen.html#subjXXX [this gets a little esoteric...]
- eg. You might like to tell someone in an email: "Matthias is my old ancestor with a known birth date."
- The blue link is made from the constant hppt://www.murph.us/tom2/trmgen.html#subj384
- where you went to the page, found Matthias at bold 384, and therefore added 384 onto the end of the contstant.
- or You might want to tell someone in an email: My mom's dad's mom was a Wilson
- Reference the the top of the page:
- Raymond is Bold number 2. and is subj2
- James is NOT bold on the page; but is id3
- Either subjX X or idXX may be used to at the end of the constant
- the id is more difficult to find; you might have your browser look at the Source View.
- eg. You wanted to reference the first Murphy clergy born in
Canada; you find T.P. Murphy in Generation under subj8; look at the
page source; and determine T.P. has id447 ; now you can reference him :
Fr. T.P. Murphy
