Flather Update

Unfortunately, I've  only spent a few hours since that night in Poughkeepsie where the lathe resides. I brought  a Sjogren chuck  back to Schroon Lake and cleaned it up. See: sjogren1.jpg

A couple weeks ago, Chris remounted the motor and wired it back up. It ran!! Yea, hurrah.

Main problem: There is a small transmission between the motor and the main lathe gearing. See the two levers in:   Fmotor3.jpg
When in the one position the motor seems to be laboring. Perhaps that extra gearing needs a good cleaning.   Can't wait to make some chip on this old workhorse... and post some decent pictures...

Still have not gotten any chips flying...   But I had it cleaned up a year ago.. and took some pictures in an effort to get some help. But I  only emailed them... and NOW I'll make them public.  (Last night I read in Practical Machinist of  a guy looking for Flather info...   If you can give me any pointers on the controls pictured here, please let me know..
